Homegrown Timber (Rail) Ltd (HTR) has a Safety Management System (SMS) and a fully trained workforce, HTR can demonstrate the ability, commitment and resources to properly assess and effectively control HSQE risks associated with scope of contract work that may be awarded and can provide documentation to demonstrate competence, capability and organization / management systems to address health, safety, quality and environmental risk.

HTR Holds a Railway Safety Case (RSC) Certificate No. 96/100, we also held a Contractor Assurance Case Certificate No. FAC-16028-01, under the new licensing regime we now also Licensed On Track Plant Operator Within Possessions on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure, Link-up Certificate No.16028, HTR has also achieved ISO9001 certification and all our policies are underpinned by appropriate management procedures and with reference to quality certificated to ISO 9001.

It is Homegrown's policy to only allow personnel to undertake work, for which they have been trained, briefed and assessed as competent; all our operatives carry PTS cards (Personal Track Safety) and other competencies issued by the National Competency Control Agency (NCCA). All operatives undertaking forestry activities in order to improve competency, quality and reduce accidents HTR ensures that they are trained to NPTC standards (National Proficiency Tests Council), all our operatives carry copies/cards as proof of occupational competence to support their competencies e.g. chain saw, climber aerial rescue, chipper, etc.

HTR provide all its employees with ready access to competent and current health and safety advice in a timely and consistent manner. We have arrangements in place to ensure we always provide access to competent health and safety advice to employees and suppliers, we have a dedicated Planning and HSQE department our Planning & HSQE manager and a team of Safety Advisors /Consultants & Planners provide safety advice and produce Risk Assessments, RIMINI plans, Work Package Plans, Method Statements and all associated safety requirements and information; we ensure constant compliance with current statutory requirement, Network Rail and Rail Industry compliance as well as meeting our clients safety expectations.

We are also members of various, Safety Groups and trade organizations and we subscribe to a number of Safety Publications and On-line Safety Libraries, HTR always seek to adapt and implement the latest trends in safety and Approved Codes of Practice etc.

HTR constantly reviews its SMS and training programmes as part of our objective in promoting continual improvements in all our operations / processes relating to work on and outside the railway and to ensure that performance of the SMS improves over time.
