We sponsor all personnel who work for us, all our personnel work only for Homegrown Timber (Rail) Limited on the railway infrastructure. The following are examples of the mechanisms used to ensure all personnel comply with our standards and those of Network Rail and legislation:

All management and operatives have (as a minimum) Personal Track Safety (PTS
AC & DC) competence and site supervisors also have Controller of Site Safety (COSS)
certification.
HTR sponsor in excess of 115 Personal Track Safety (PTS) certificated
personnel of which a number are also holders of the following competencies:
- COSS (Controller of Site Safety) - 40
- Lookouts/site wardens - 57
- Machine/Crane Controllers -15
- Engineering Supervisors - 10
- PC - 5
- RIMINI Planners - 3
In addition to railway competencies HTR employ personnel who are
National Proficiency Training Council - NPTC certified chainsaw, tree climbing
and aerial rescue operatives, personnel certified for Chapter 8 road working
activities e.g. for signage and cordoning work areas, car parks, paths etc., and
personnel certified for First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid, Pesticide
application and PA1 and PA6 herbicide application.
Our experienced craftsmen and professionals undertake all management and
services in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. HTR ensure that
personnel employed on their sites have had the required training and
certification and conform to appropriate Codes of Practice (e.g. Arboricultural
& Forestry Advisory Group - AFAG), Network Rail and Railway Group Standards and
are competent in the activities that are allocated to them.
HTR only select competent and approved training providers, we also have
arrangements in place to identify the competence requirements for tasks
undertaken, the recruitment and induction of employees, the training of
employees and the assessment of employees' competence.
Our competence management system meets all the requirements set out in published
Network Rail specifications.

The competence, the assessment and verification of competences and provision of training requirements are in accordance with published Network Rail specifications.
