Homegrown Timber has undertaken a number of conservation and environmental mitigation contracts ranging from large scale soil translocation projects to the collection of plants and construction of badger setts.
  

We specialise in working with civil engineers and environmental consultants to develop mitigation programmes for development projects. 

We provide full service for tree, vegetation and conservation works including clearance, tree works and environmental mitigation.

 

 

We maintain the following plant:

360 excavator with timber fork.

Heavy duty mulcher mounted on purpose built forestry tractor.

Heavy Duty Stumpgrinder.

 

Birdeye scrub buster mounted on an excavator arm.

Timber Forwarders,   Loaders,   Winches,   Telescopic Handler.

Chippers  (Tracked, trailed, tractor mounted).

The Company also provides access equipment and a range of earth moving and drainage plant.

 
Our team of experienced in-house craftsmen include machine drivers, chainsaw operators and tree surgeons. 

Operatives have competence and safety certificates from ITSSAR and NPTC. 

Training skills are regularly updated.

 

 

Homegrown Timber is also a timber merchant with outlets for all timber and wood produce.

Timber and Branchwood may be used to create insect and mammal habitats.


The following jobs have been completed in the recent past:
  • Highways Agency A2M2 Environmental Mitigation. Subcontracting to Tilhill Economic Forestry to remove 15ha of woodland. Received commendations from Highway Agency and consulting engineers Maunsell.
  • Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Hochtief Norwest Holst JV.    Environmental mitigation works included takedown of suspected bat trees, coppicing of nut to move dormice from construction site, construction of artificial badger setts.

  • Elmbridge Borough Council;   Felling of pine coupes to create glades and forest edge for heathland regeneration and bird habitat.
  • Highways Agency A2M2 Environmental Mitigation.   Contract for Tilhill Economic Forestry to translocate 15 ha of topsoil as part of Highways Agency environmental mitigation.
     
  • Woodland Management.    Mixed woodland operations for different private landowners including ride creation for butterfly and bird habitat.
