Tree Removals

Case Study

Published:

Safety is always the number one priority at Homegrown.

Homegrown was asked to price and remove a row of mature sycamores for the client following three hazardous trees that failed within the space of two months. These trees were close to third-party structures, properties, and utilities. According to the ADAS reports, multiple trees in that area were identified as unsafe and DDD, with cavities and weaknesses. This increases the risk of trees falling and therefore, the decision was made to remove the hazard.

Homegrown can undertake a wide range of complex works using both competent Arb teams and highly skilled machine operators, while using the right plant for the task to complete any works safely, efficiently, and effectively.

This was demonstrated during these recent works, when using various types of machinery to complete work on a tight programme. Being able to finish the works without compromising safety or quality gives clients the assurance they need to come back to Homegrown in the future.

Site safety is paramount, prior to any works starting, an in-depth project induction is undertaken, highlighting hazards onsite and controls put in place to reduce the risk of harm and / or damage. Staff welfare is put in place for our workforce, exclusion zones set-up, and liaising with local residents, these are just a few things briefed before any operative starts work. Audits were conducted by onsite management, and safety tours carried out by HSQE. Additionally, supervision of staff on the rail infrastructure is undertaken by Sentinel compliant employees and experienced supervisory staff (e.g., Person in Charge / Controller of Site Safety). Homegrown ensure all staff are certified for the tasks / duties that they perform and the plant / equipment that is in use. Copies of staff’s certificates are kept on file at our Head Office HSQE Department and this compliance is checked during site audits and safety tours.

The benefit of using our services was that we were able to undertake all levels of vegetation management, with manpower and machine capabilities needed to complete this job in a timely manner while prioritising safety and maintaining high quality.
